Cirque du Seniors Review

Posted On October - 20 - 2011 224 COMMENTS
Prince William: Dear Katy, didn’t the senior decorations look just posh today? Catherine Middleton: Why indeed Willy! I almost wanted to eat the popcorn out of the trash can; although that would have been quite uncourtly. PW: The circus tent banner sure made me feel like I was at the circus. CM: Even the flags and backdrop were emanating red. I pulled my eyes from the elaborate backdrop and my attention turned to the opening strum of the guitar and the band on stage. PW: The opening song was certainly different from other singing air bands and it revved…

Indiana Juniors Review

Edward the Vampire: As I was lying in the grass, glistening in the sun as I so often do, I was awoken by the deafening roar of cheers to the beginning of the first act of junior’s homecoming skit. Bella the Beautiful: Did you recognize it? They were singing the a capella version of the Indiana Jones theme song. It was a really original way to start their performances. EV: The decorations were also amazing, especially the suspended “2013”, but the shadow from the hanging figures really put a damper on my sparkle. BB: Those were great, but the backdrop…

West Side Sophomores Review

Justin Bieber: As I pulled into the horseshoe parking lot I was struck by the attention-grabbing “Now Playing: West Side Sophomores” sign at the edge of the amphitheater. In fact, all of the decorations made me feel as though I had been transported to the Upper West Side of 1950s New York City. Selena Gomez: I definitely noticed the bridge structure that lined the edges of the walkway. I peered over the frantically waving pompoms and horns and could see the New York City skyline in vibrant yellow on the other side. JB: I was particularly appreciative that the…

Back to the Future Freshmen Review

Posted On October - 17 - 2011 24 COMMENTS
As Brad left his AP Physics class and met Angelina on her way out of AP Calc, they were enchanted by the mass of blue surrounding the amphitheater. Expecting the best, and anxious for the Back to the Future brilliance, they sat down and opened their hearts to the sounds of 2015’s spirit.   Angelina: Hey Brad, how much do you think it cost them to put all of this blue up? Brad: Not sure, but from what I heard, the Freshmen are pretty well off as far as funding goes… A: Yeah, I can tell! They definitely outshined…

Senior’s Day Off (Review)

Little Red Riding Hood: Well, after three days of anticipation, I walked into the amphitheater expecting the glory of the senior performance. I was so excited! Wolf: In the morning the decorations didn’t impress me as much as I thought they would, though. RH: Yeah, the streams of red caution tape seemed a bit haphazardly strewn across the trees. But the tunnel was an original idea. W: Oh, and their backdrop was really vibrant and definitely showed hard work. It set the stage for an impressive performance, although I was a bit disappointed with their opening airband. RH: Oh,…

Greased Lightnin’ Juniors (Review)

Batman: As I arrived in my Batmobile, I saw a dense cloud of black blanketing the amphitheater. I felt at home, but I think it could have been a bit darker for my taste. Robin: While swinging in I almost tripped over those rubber strings over the tarp on the grass. What were those for? B: I walked around the scene surveying the blackness, but it began to blow away just as I was about to enjoy the deco. However I did like the checkerboard tarp. R: I spotted Sandy’s cutout and I liked what I saw, along with…

Sophomores in Neverland (Review)

Darth Vader: Gliding into the amphitheater, I was assaulted by yellow. Chewbacca: The streamers over the N-Wing door were entangled in my hairy back, though I did admire their novelty. DV: Indeed, their decorations were everywhere. I found it ingenious that streamers were covering all plant life in the N-Wing. CB: The cardboard cutouts were quite lifelike, and I got scared. DV: Hrm, they were impressive. I was appreciative of the fact that the sophomores took time to cover the benches and the grass with tarp, so I didn’t have to muddy my cape. CB: Meanwhile, the golden stars…

Freshmen in Wonderland (Review)

Hermione Granger: This morning while I was riding my broomstick to first period, I couldn’t help but be impressed by the large, very detailed Mad Hatter cut out by the office. Albus Dumbledore: But I was oddly disappointed at the sparse balloon decorations around the amphitheater. Where were the streamers and the witty posters that have symbolized past homecomings? HG: The freshmen compensated for the lackluster decorations with a phenomenal backdrop. All the main characters from the movie were incorporated into it very well. AD: The backdrop was very vivid and I felt like I was stepping into Wonderland,…
